Brenda Mathijssen appointed new vice dean of faculty

Brenda Mathijssen has been appointed as the new vice-dean and portfolio holder for Education of the Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society, for a four-year term. She had already been interim vice-dean for some time, but now the appointment is official.
Dr Brenda Mathijssen is associate professor of Geography and Psychology of Religion and an expert on rituals surrounding death. Her latest paper was on how people use rituals to create life worlds. In rituals, people experiment with the possible; imagination and reality become intertwined. And that gives structure and meaning in dealing with the sometimes unruly reality. The article, entitled "Ritual Worlding. Exploring the Self-and-world-making Efficacy of Rituals" , is open access to read.
We wish Brenda every success in her new position!
