Jochen Mierau says farewell during AJSPH Impact Event

19 September 2022
Farewell Jochen Mierau

The Aletta Jacobs School of Public health (AJSPH) said farewell to its scientific director Jochen Mierau during their Impact Event at Dot Groningen on Thursday 15 September. Brigit Toebes has succeeded him as of 1 September 2022.

Almost 5 years ago the AJSPH has been set-up in order to create more healthy years with a network of multidisciplinary researchers and partners. During the event we were inspired by talks and discussions from academic and societal speakers who gave a behind-the-scenes look of creating impact. As part of his farewell Mierau gave a keynote about the challenges and opportunities the AJSPH has encountered and how the School has turned them into impactful stories.

Jochen Mierau is a role model within the University of Groningen and has led the AJSPH with energy and ambition. We thank Jochen in making the AJSPH the success it is today. Without his courage we wouldn’t have made the impact in the past years, today and tomorrow.

Next week the recordings of the event will be available on the AJSPH website.
