Threats
03 March 2022
Academics are increasingly facing threats, intimidation, and hate speech in response to media and other public appearances. Rector Cisca Wijmenga:
'The UG wants to be at the heart of society and, in my capacity as Rector, I am committed to academic freedom. That means our academics can freely share the results of their research and participate in social dialogues and debate. Whenever this leads to intimidating and threatening responses, academic freedom is under threat. By means of this UNL (Universities of the Netherlands) national guideline and clear measures within our University, we want to protect our staff members. We firmly stand with our people.’
Immediate threats?
In case of immediate threats, please call the UG's Main Control Room at 050-363 8050 or the police at 112. You can reach this number day and night.
