Campus Community Fund invests €500 million in Campus Groningen
On Tuesday 1 September, Campus Groningen presented plans for an investment fund of €500 million. The Campus Community Fund is intended to attract and accommodate more businesses, professionals and innovation labs and provide them with better infrastructure , in order to keep the Zernike Campus in the northwest of the city and the Healthy Ageing Campus at the UMCG accessible.
Together with the Municipality and Province of Groningen, the University of Groningen, the UMCG, Hanze University of Applied Sciences and Rabobank, Campus Groningen has made a plan detailing how it intends to grow over the coming five years. President of the University of Groningen, Jouke de Vries: ‘The Campus Community Fund is a great initiative. It invests in buildings that are very important for collaboration between knowledge institutions, businesses and government; this is the triple helix at work. I am very happy about that!’
Campus Groningen aims to stand out as an increasingly productive, international hotspot with exactly the right knowledge and expertise, relevant buildings and facilities and an inspiring dynamic. The fund is especially intended for use in sectors that the Northern Netherlands is already excelling in: health, agrifood, energy, chemistry and digital economy.
The presentation can be watched retroactively via the Campus Groningen YouTube channel. The Campus Community Fund plan can be downloaded via the Campus Groningen website.
