Sibrand Poppema welcomes participants PNU Summer School
Seventy first-year students from the South-Korean Pusan National University (PNU) will participate in a two-week Summer School at the UG. Prof. Sibrand Poppema, chair of the Board of the University, officially welcomed the students to Groningen and the UG last Monday,3 July, in the presence of the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Korea.
The Summer School is coordinated by dr. Sunkung Choi, lecturer in Korean Studies, of the Centre for East Asian Studies Groningen (CEASG) . Earlier this year CEASG launched a research centre at PNU.
The theme of the third edition of the PNU Summer School is "Interdisciplinary Perspectives on the Netherlands and Globalisation.” During the following two weeks, students will take courses in international policy, Dutch culture and economy, and Dutch developments in the field of sustainability. Additionally, students will partake in theme-related field trips throughout the country, including a visit to the ING bank, the Rijksmuseum and the harbor of Rotterdam.
