On Friday 10 October, the Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome (KNIR) will host a conference to celebrate the University of Groningen’s 400th anniversary. The theme of the event will be ‘Sustainable Society’, one of the University’s focus areas. The conference will be attended by the Dutch ambassador to Italy, the Dutch ambassador to the Vatican, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United Nations organizations for Food and Agriculture in Rome, President of the Board of the University of Groningen Sibrand Poppema, a number of representatives of the Roman universities Roma Tre, LUISS and La Sapienza, and researchers from various national institutes located in Rome.

During the conference, Poppema and Roma Tre University rector Mario Panizza will sign an agreement to ratify the collaboration between the two universities.
