King Willem-Alexander attends NWO Spinoza Prizegiving ceremony for Theunis Piersma (update: photo’s)

On Tuesday 9 September, migratory bird ecologist Theunis Piersma of the University of Groningen received his NWO Spinoza Prize from Secretary of State Sander Dekker. His Majesty King Willem-Alexander attended the ceremony for the most prestigious academic award in the Netherlands. The NWO Spinoza Prize is EUR 2.5 million.

In the Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague the Laureates presented their research and what they plan to do with the prize.
