University of Groningen awarded with ECTS and Diploma Supplement labels
Once again the European Commission has awarded the ECTS and Diploma Supplement (DS) labels to the University of Groningen. By doing so, the European Commission recognizes that the University of Groningen meets the set requirements for proper implementation of the guidelines for the use of ECTS and that the University provides a clear explanation along with the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
In 2009 the University received both labels for the first time. The ECTS system and Diploma Supplement contribute to the transparency of information on the educational programmes offered by the institution. Moreover, it contributes to the recognition of credits and degrees obtained abroad. The Diploma Supplement explains the level of the degree , the meaning of study results, and describes the learning outcomes. It provides a student’s future employer or university with relevant insight into the student’s academic performance.
The European Commission considers the recent introduction of the ECTS Grading Table in the Diploma Supplement of the University of Groningen an ‘example of good practice’.
