EBF Groningen welcomes DNB President and Transavia CEO
EBF, the association for students studying at the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Economics and Business, will hold its annual conference at Martiniplaza in Groningen on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 September 2012. The theme is ‘Create, Innovate, Dominate’ and EBF is proud to announce the participation of such illustrious speakers as DNB president Klaas Knot and the CEO of Transavia.com, Bram Gräber. Conference participants can also follow workshops hosted by national and international companies.
With over 600 attendants, the EBF Conference is the largest student conference in the Netherlands. The conference is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Careers Week, during which students of the Faculty can attend workshops and lectures to help them make career decisions. This EBF Conference also coincides with the fifth anniversary of EBF and FEB, which is being celebrated throughout this Anniversary Week.
Academic Day: 27 September
On the first conference day, ‘Academic Day’, the central theme is ‘science’, with lectures and workshops on the relationship between science and innovation. Speakers include Professor Aard Groen (Professor of Innovative Enterprise at the University of Twente) and Martijn Arnoldus (expert at Kennisland consultancy), who will give their take on the theme of Innovation. Four departments of the Faculty of Economics and Business will host workshops: the departments of Strategy and Innovation, Human Resource Management, Operations and Marketing. The chairperson of the Academic Day is Professor Janka Stoker, Professor of Leadership and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business. The Academic Day will be held at the Faculty.
Conference Day: 28 September
More than 600 participants – including students, alumni and representatives of the business community – are expected to attend the ‘Conference Day’ on Friday 28 September, making the EBF Conference the largest student conference in the Netherlands. Renowned speakers including Bram Gräber (CEO of Transavia.com), Klaas Knot (President of DNB and professor at FEB) and Alexander Klöpping (internet journalist and regular guest on the popular TV talkshow De Wereld Draait Door) will share their vision with the conference participants on this day. The lectures will be introduced by chairperson Jeroen Akkermans, foreign correspondent with news programme RTL Nieuws. Students can also follow interactive workshops hosted by AkzoNobel and Vopak.
During the Conference Day, both speakers and recruiters will address the question why innovation has become so important for enterprise. This theme will be examined from the point of view of the different industries.
