Olha Cherednychenko appointed professor of European Private Law and Comparative Law

Olha Cherednychenko (Kiev, 1978) will be appointed associate professor of European Private Law and Comparative Law at the Faculty of Law on 1 February 2012. The appointment is within the framework of the Rosalind Franklin Fellowship Programme.
After rounding off her law degree in Kiev (in 2000; with great distinction), Cherednychenko studied International and European Law at Utrecht University, where she also graduated with great distinction (magna cum laude). She gained her PhD in Utrecht in 2007, with a very well-received thesis entitled ‘Fundamental rights, contract law and the protection of the weaker party’.
She then worked at VU University Amsterdam on a three-year research grant for talented researchers. She has also been a visiting research scholar in London and Florence. Until recently she worked as a university lecturer at the department of civil law at VU University.
