Hylda Boschma appointed Professor of Company Law
On 16 November 2011, Hylda Boschma was appointed professor of Company Law in particular the Legal Form of the Enterprise at the Faculty of Law.
Boschma’s research focuses on the legal form of enterprise in the widest sense, an area of the law relevant to society and a very dynamic one today. Both Dutch and European legislators have recently launched proposals aiming at providing entrepreneurs with suitable legal structures.
Boschma (1968) studied Dutch Law and Notary Law at the University of Groningen and graduated with honours in both degree programmes. In 1997 she was awarded a PhD by the University of Groningen for her thesis entitled ‘De Eenpersoons-BV, een rechtsvergelijkend onderzoek’ (Comparative law research into the one-man company with limited liability). She went on to work as a candidate notary public with the Corporate & Finance section of the Houthoff Buruma law firm in Amsterdam.
Hylda Boschma has worked as an associate professor since 2005 with the Department of Business and Labour Law at the University of Groningen. In addition, she is a lecturer and examiner at the Grotius specialization degree programme in companies and businesses (Grotius-specialisatieopleiding vennootschap en onderneming) and also gives general courses on company law.
