Prof. Adel Maged in Groningen
From 14 - 24 September 2011, the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology will host Professor Adel Maged. Professor Maged is a vice-president at the Egyptian Court of Cassation (Criminal Division), the supreme criminal court of Egypt. Previously he was a judge at the Egyptian Court of Appeals and for several years on secondment to the Ministry of Justice of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a Legal Advisor on International (Criminal) Law and Treaty Affairs. He is an Expert Adviser on Human Trafficking to the League of Arab States.
He was a lecturer in international criminal law at the Institute for Training & Judicial Studies, Abu Dhabi, UAE, and now teaches at Al-Azhar University in Cairo. Judge Maged holds a Bachelor of Law from Alexandria University, Egypt, and an LL.M on Internationalization of Crime and Criminal Justice from Utrecht University.
His visit coincides with the annual September visit of Michael Bohlander, the Visiting Chair in Substantive Criminal Law.
