Automated import of datasets

Automated import

From May 2021 metadata of Datasets registered in external repositories are imported in Pure via Mendeley Data Monitor.

Mendeley Data Monitor indexes thousands of data repositories either directly or via DataCite. Every week the information related to datasets published by UG researchers are imported into Pure.

The information imported via Mendeley Data Monitor is not directly visible on the UG research portal. The University Library is responsible for the validation of the information and to publish them on the UG research portal.

More information on Mendeley Data.

Case study: How the University of Groningen is drawing on the insights gleaned from Data Monitor to shape strategic thinking.

Visibility

The metadata of datasets imported automatically in Pure via Mendeley Data Monitor will not be visible on the UG research portal before the validation by the validation team at the University Library.

Under the header “visibility” there are four possible options. The University Library will select the most appropriate, you can always change it as desired. It is important to note that this does not equal the visibility of the dataset itself.

There options are:

  • Public - No restriction
  • Campus - Restricted to specific IP range
  • Backend - Restricted to Pure users
  • Confidential - Restricted to associated users and editors

When using “Public” this meta data will also become available on the UG research portal.
