Trial: Colonial Law in Africa (British Online Archives)
The object of the Gazette is to inform officials, and the general public, who otherwise might not have the opportunity, of the different Regulations, Orders, Postal arrangements, legal information, etc., affecting Protectorates
As of today, the UB offers access to 3 collections from the British Online Archives on Colonial Law in Africa. These are so-called ‘African Government Gazettes’ from 1808-1966.
The 3 collections are:
- Colonial Law in Africa, 1808-1919
- Colonial Law in Africa, 1920-1945
- Colonial Law in Africa, 1946-1966
This collection provides the opportunity to explore the laws implemented by successive British governments in eleven African countries from January 1920 to 1966.
