Mussengang House
After a few years of horizontal format illustrations, Bert Cornelius reverted to his original vertical format. This change was accompanied by a relocation of the inhabitants to a new building. Cornelius had had enough of the fictional house in the Mussengang, and was looking for an existing house that would be fun to draw.
In the serial, the old house was demolished, following which the inhabitants relocated to an existing building, a house in the Zuiderpark selected by Bert Cornelius. This building really did house students, including future stand-up comedian Jochem Myjer. The writers and illustrator paid a few visits to the Vindicat-owned house and were warmly welcomed by the inhabitants.
All the illustrations in the new Mussengang House (26) are based on the interior decoration of the time: kitchen, bedrooms (6), and garden (27).
