"I studied English Literature during my undergraduate degree and enjoyed it so much that I became interested in pursuing a PhD. This led me to look for a Master’s programme that would prepare me well, and the Research Master’s in Arts, Media, and Literary Studies was the perfect choice.

It has allowed me to deepen my understanding of research interests I already held, while also branching out into new areas. I especially appreciate the flexibility of the course structure. In particular, the chance to select courses from other faculties or to design my own modules has been exciting. Equally important has been the diverse and welcoming student community within the programme.

Our cohort has such a wide range of research interests that in-class discussions are consistently engaging and enriching. There is always someone to talk to who can offer a fresh perspective or helpful insight. This Research Master’s has enabled me to gain a real understanding of what working in academia might be like, while preparing me as thoroughly as possible in a supportive and friendly environment."
