Carla Hoetink appointed as Director of DNPP

The Faculty of Arts welcomes political historian Carla Hoetink as the new Director of the Documentation Centre for Dutch Political Parties (DNPP). On 1 December2024, Carla joined the University of Groningen from Radboud University Nijmegen, succeeding Gerrit Voerman as the director of the DNPP.

Carla brings extensive expertise in modern representative democracy, with a particular focus on political institutions such as parliaments and political parties. During her 20-year career at Radboud University, she completed her PhD in 2018 with a dissertation titled The Power of Habit: Rules and Rituals in the Dutch House of Representatives since 1945. Her work has received both national and international recognition, including the D.J. Veegens Prize and a nomination for the PrinsjesBoekenPrijs.

In addition to her research, Carla is an experienced lecturer and, since 2021, the director of the national research school for political history (OPG). She is also a fellow of the Montesquieu Institute (MI), a lecturer for the MI Academy for the Rule of Law, a board member of the Anne Vondeling Prize, and a jury member for the Prinsjesprijs.
