Following an interactive online course at the Language Centre – how does that work exactly?

Now that our buildings are closed, our courses will continue online. We understand that this might raise some questions, so we would like to explain what this means for you.

The courses we normally host on-site will now be taught online through Blackboard Collaborate. The focus will be the same: in your course, you will receive personal attention from your teacher, and you will learn about the language and culture in a group setting.

What can you expect from the course?

The lessons are taught on the days and times as indicated on our website. The interactive online lessons are set up in the same way as an on-site lesson, the only difference being that you will meet in Blackboard Collaborate, our online classroom for the coming period.

Blackboard Collaborate gives you the option of video calling and chatting at the same time, plus you can share documents with the group. The teacher can also share their screen to explain something, and you can work on exercises in smaller groups. The teacher uses various interactive modes of instruction and online assignments and tests.

What do you need?

To join the lessons, you need a desktop or laptop with a good internet connection. You also need a webcam and a microphone. You do not have to download any software in order to join the course. Please remember to buy the required course material if this is indicated on the course page.
