JTS Pitch Event: How AI and digitisation can contribute to Nij Begun
The Jantina Tammes School of Digital Society, Technology and AI will host a pitch event at House of Connections on 3 April. During the event, scientists will talk about their research in the field of AI and digitisation and how it could contribute to the Nij Begun Economic Agenda, a years-long plan for improving the Groningen and North Drenthe region.
Keynote speaker is mayor Koen Schuiling. He will discuss Nij Begun, the cabinet response that followed the parliamentary inquiry into gas extraction in Groningen. Under the banner Nij Begun (new beginning), the cabinet came up with 50 concrete measures to improve the situation in Groningen in April 2023. The Economic Agenda is included as part of the measures. Besides Schuiling's speech, rector Jacquelien Scherpen and Thony Visser, dean of the Faculty of Arts, will explain the involvement of the University of Groningen.
During the 12 pitches of maximum three minutes, scientists will speak about their research in artificial intelligence and digitisation. The focus will be on how their research can contribute to the Economic Agenda of Nij Begun. The afternoon will conclude with a speech by Ming Cao (director of the Jantina Tammes School) and Alice Klamer (event & office manager of the Jantina Tammes School).
There are still pitch spots available for researchers. The event is also open to anyone interested. Registration is via the Jantina Tammes School website .
