Statistical Methods for the Analysis of Social Network Data

The group has broad expertise in the field of statistics and methodology and their application in the field of empirical sociology. The models for social network analysis are the focus area of the research, particularly the development of advanced statistical models for the analysis of longitudinal network data. The analyses are carried out using the RSiena software implemented in R, developed by Tom Snijders. The models are used in the analysis of classes and organizational networks, but also as a simulation model. This involves studying the development of the structure of one or more social networks and social influence processes.

Researchers worldwide use the advanced models and software after following regularly organized workshops by Christian Steglich and Tom Snijders. Other areas of expertise include multilevel analysis, structural equation models, and multiple imputation techniques for missing data, survey methodology, and qualitative methods, in particular focus groups and thematic analysis.
