MSc Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE)
The MSc in PPE at the University of Groningen offers an interdisciplinary degree in English for ambitious students, researchers and prospective staff with diverse interests and backgrounds, providing specialist training in understanding the social world. This selective master aims to meet the increasing need for broader, more integrated theories and methodologies in public policy as well as commerce through systematic training for the development of analytical and quantitative skills as well as a solid background of theoretical and historical knowledge in PPE.
It aims to encourage open-mindedness and responsible decision-making, and while it is truly interdisciplinary, it had a clear and distinct identity, focusing on methods uniting the three disciplines of philosophy, political science and economics.
The programme is open to students, national and international, with Bachelor’s degrees in PPE, philosophy, political science, and economics, as well as to students with Bachelor’s degrees in other related fields, such as international relations, history, sociology, or psychology, provided they demonstrate a sufficiently close fit with PPE or one of its subdisciplines.
Rated exceptionally high in student survey
In 2018, PPE received the highest score of all Master programmes across all disciplines in the Netherlands in the National Student Survey (NSE). The average over-all score came to 4.9 out of 5, and students gave a top score of 5 for the category on atmosphere.
