Capitalism & Domination, A Workshop on Contemporary Marxist Debates
From: | Th 15-02-2024 |
Until: | Fr 16-02-2024 |
Where: | Faculty of Philosophy, University of Groningen |
How should we understand the problem of domination in the context of capitalist societies? What kind of power is set in motion by capital? How does the capitalist social logic impede human and natural reproduction? And what would it take to confront it?
In order to answer these questions, this workshop will convene three scholars – Soren Mau, Rebecca Carson, and Nicholas Vrousalis – to discuss their theoretical proposals. The event will include one roundtable and three panels, dedicated to exploring Mau's Mute Compulsion, Carson's Immanent Externalities, and Vrousalis' Exploitation as Domination, respectively.
This workshop is organized by the Critical Theory Study Group at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Groningen, in cooperation with the Interdisciplinary Marxism Group at the Faculty of Arts, and supported by the Faculty of Philosophy and the Institute for the Study of Culture.
