Open days Faculty of Philosophy
The next onsite Bachelor Open Day will be held on Friday 31 January 2025. Registration is possible from Monday 13 January 2025 at 5 pm CET. Presentations will be offered in Dutch and/or partly in English, depending on the lecturer giving the presentation.
Please note that this open day is focused on students wishing to start in the 3-year Dutch-taught BA Filosofie programme.
Students already studying a bachelor's degree at the UG can apply for admission to the English-taught Bachelor of specific discipline. This programme is open to current UG students wishing to deepen their academic discipine by including philosophy in their programme.
A web class gives a good impression of how it is to study philosophy (level, assignments, course content, literature, etc). The webclasses are offered in Dutch. The philosophy webclass tutor will guide you through the 4-week assignment period.
Registration for the fall edition of web classes will open in October 2024. The web classes will take place end of October to end of November.
Everyone who is thinking of studying philosophy in Groningen is welcome to register for the philosophy Student for a Day event in December and in February of each year. This event is only offered in Dutch.

As the faculty offers an English-taught bachelor (Philosophy of a Specific Discipline) which starts in the second year of a RUG bachelor's enrolment, we want to offer international students a possibility to visit our faculty in order to attend a lecture. Please contact the study advisor Anouk Labberté to see what can be arranged.
The next Philosophy Master's Day is planned during March 2025. This hybrid event is part of the University of Groningen Master's Week. View all the master programmes of the Faculty of Philosophy.
Our Master's Day will have a hybrid element, presentations are held in person (maximum 30 participants) in the Gamma lecture room and will be live-streamed via Kaltura Video Classroom. After registration, you will receive a link to join the livestream.
