Faculty of Economics and Business and Dutch Central Bank Announce New "Klaas Knot Lecture Series"
The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of the University of Groningen and De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) are pleased to announce the launch of the annual “Klaas Knot Lecture Series” on international economic policy. The lecture series is a significant initiative to honor the contributions of Klaas Knot, President of De Nederlandsche Bank and a distinguished alumnus of the Faculty.
A very influential person in international monetary policy, Klaas Knot is the first alumnus to be recognized through this lecture series. The series aims to inspire current and future students and alumni, strengthening the connection between academic knowledge and practical application in the world of economic policy.
The Klaas Knot lecture
The Faculty of Economics and Business and DNB are looking forward to the first inaugural lecture, on the 31st of January 2025, at the DNB, which will mark the beginning of a new tradition of celebrating the excellence and engagement of FEB’s alumni.
The lecture by Klaas Knot focuses on economics and policy, with a personal reflection on his experiences and the connection with the knowledge he gained during his studies at the University of Groningen.
A New Tradition Honoring Excellence
Dean of FEB, Peter Verhoef, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating: “The launch of the ‘Klaas Knot Lecture Series’ aligns with our mission to foster meaningful connections with our alumni and to create opportunities for knowledge-sharing and engagement, in both national and international spheres.Klaas Knot’s career is a testament to the impact that FEB alumni can have, and we are proud to honor his contributions in this way.”
About the Lecture Series
The "Klaas Knot Lecture Series" will be held annually and aims to explore significant topics related to economic policy. Each year, the series will honor an alumnus of the Faculty for their contributions to society and their continued engagement with the Faculty. The series will feature in-depth reflections by the invited speakers, allowing them to share their expertise, career insights, and broader perspectives on the evolving landscape of economic and public policy.
