The Council of Deans in Economics & Business presents Impact Agenda
The Council of Deans in Economics & Business (DEB) presented its Impact Agenda on 12 October during the Impact Forum 2023. Through this agenda, the faculties want to strengthen their societal impact and actually initiate, guide and supervise changes in society. DEB thus wants to jointly identify the changes to which it wants to contribute and the implications this will have.
Impact Agenda
Chairman of the DEB, Dean Peter Verhoef (University of Groningen), is enthusiastic about the Impact Agenda. "The Economics & Business sector is facing new challenges in sustainability, increasing inequality, social transitions, disruptive technology and welfare. Economists and business experts want to connect their social insights on the functioning of markets, institutions, business strategies and households to today's challenges. With this Impact Agenda, we can elaborate and develop visions on specific issues."
The Impact Agenda was handed over to Erwin Nijsse, the director-general of Business & Innovation at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate.
National Impact Forum
DEB presented the Impact Agenda at the second edition of the National Impact Forum, where civil society partners such as banks, insurance companies, trade unions, ministries and the Central Planning Bureau were able to give their initial reactions to the agenda. Furthermore, the forum discussed the resulting regional, national and international follow-up steps.
DEB
The DEB consists of 16 Economics and Business deans of Dutch universities. They have joined forces to define and operationalize their social impact and ultimately make it more visible.
