GUF-100 prize for Anna Sophie den Ouden
During the UG's Summer Ceremony last week, the GUF-100 prizes were presented. These prizes are awarded to the most excellent student of each faculty of the University of Groningen. This year, Anna Sophie den Ouden won the prize as the most excellent student at the Faculty of Economics and Business.
Anna Sophie impressed the jury with an excellent pitch and a lively discussion following her presentation. The GUF-100 prize, comprising a grant worth €2,500 for each student, is intended for study or research purposes.
About Anna Sophie
Anna Sophie den Ouden is a third-year Bachelor’s student of International Business, who is inspired by the question of whether, and if so, how international activity and trade can contribute to positive and sustainable local development. How do the various parts of the current, complex international economy fit together? Would it not be wise to bring certain internationally outsourced economic activities back to the Netherlands? These questions are, of course, very topical and are addressed in her Bachelor’s thesis, which was assessed as ‘excellent’.
Within the Honours programme, Anna Sophie followed both the more specialist faculty track and the general track, which allowed her to get the best out of what the university has to offer. Here, she learned that, in order to solve economic issues, it is also important to have a general understanding of other disciplines, such as law. In line with her desire to deepen her interdisciplinary understanding, she also followed course units at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Engineering. In addition to her strong academic performance and breadth, she has also been active outside of her studies. She has been a first-year mentor as well as a teaching and research assistant.
