Michiel uit het Broek wins PhD WCM Research Award 2020
On 6 October Michiel uit het Broek received the World Class Maintenance (WCM) award during a virtual ceremony. Every year the WCM awards a thesis prize to the best Bachelor-, Master- and PhD thesis on the subject of maintenance. WCM is the network for smart maintenance in the Netherlands.
Michiel uit het Broek received the award for his PhD thesis 'Condition-based production and maintenance decisions'. He graduated cum laude on March 12, 2020.
The jury compliments uit het Broek’s thesis : “This is a thesis that stands out by its extensiveness and its level and depth, and a translation to scientific publications that is exceptional in both quality and quantity.” But mostly, it was Michiel from het Broek's choice of subject that the jury became and remain most enthusiastic about. Maintenance and production were two separate worlds for a few decades now, but the availability of condition information brings them together again. How, and in what different ways, this thesis shows excellently.
