Events

It's the last exam season of this academic year and the stress might be getting to you. Below are our top event picks you can go to as a study break!

UG’s Birthday Party: Now That’s What I Call a Gala

The UG is celebrating its 405th birthday, and what better way to celebrate this than by throwing a gala party! Students are allowed in for free upon showing their student cards. The theme of the party is the nineties, so forget about your suit and evening gown and get some fashion inspiration from your favourite 90’s show, old relative or Danique’s blog. The music will be provided for by - who else- some proper ’90s stars such as Club Guy and Roni and Amsterdam Roxy DJ Joost van Bellen. Interested? Check out this blog to find out more information on what to expect this evening.

Het Groningse Terrassen Festival 2019

Undoubtedly, one of the best things about summer is hanging outside with your friends in the park while enjoying a cold drink and some delicious food. This is exactly what the Groningen Terrace festival is all about, which is going to take place in Stadspark from the 12th to 16th of June. Besides offering an array of different food trucks and drink options there will also be plenty of live music and activities to participate in.

Change Of Perspective ft. Cenk Arpa

Artist Cenk Arpa will be giving an intimate acoustic performance this Friday afternoon at MasMas. However, the underlying idea of this show is not only to bring you some good music but to spark a discussion concerning immigration. Cenk, who was raised in Berlin as a son of Turkish parents, has experienced first-hand how it can feel to be alienated and misunderstood by society solely based on your origins. Through his music, he wants to raise awareness and work towards a more empathetic and understanding society.

Poetry Night @Lust

This Sunday all poetry enthusiasts will have the opportunity to get together and share some of their lyrical art during the Poetry Night @Lust. But, no worries. Even if you don’t feel like taking the stage you are more than welcome to just listen in and forget about your exam stress for a moment,

Japanese Cuisine and Culture

The Lecture Committee of the Honours College Social Association will be organizing a lecture about Japanese Cuisine tonight at 6pm in the Academy Building. The event will teach you more about Japanese food, the history and the regional differences.

Haringparty - Wolthoorn & Keyzer

“There ain’t no party like a haringparty”, has probably never been said by any normal person ever. Yet here it is. This Friday. In Groningen. Although this event might sound a bit fishy for all you landlubbers out there, it has a lot of potential. For instance, what better place is there to catch a first date than a party dedicated to everyone's favourite sea creature and sandwich topping? Remember although there are plenty of fish in the sea, there is only one Haringparty this weekend. So if you are a fisherman, a seagull or just a guy who loves haring, this is the place to be.
