Vinyl Records Market
Calling all vinyl lovers: the vinyl market is making its return this weekend in MartiniPlaza. With more than 150,000 vinyl records, from the Rolling Stones to the Arctic Monkeys to Ed Sheeran, there is something there for everyone. The first 150 visitors get a goody bag filled with records, posters, and other merch, so grab your sleeping bags and camp out in front of MartiniPlaza this Saturday!
Swedish Christmas Market
It’s December, meaning it’s Christmas market time! This weekend, the Old Sugar Factory (paradigm) will be transformed into a Swedish Christmas Market. With a large selection of Swedish delicacies like cinnamon bread, it’ll be almost like you left Groningen and were teleported to Sweden.
DOT Christmas bauble ignition
Did you know that Groningen is the world record holder for the biggest Christmas bauble (we’re very proud)? At exactly 18:00 this Friday, the Dot Dome will be lit up by 6,000 fairy lights. This festive DOT event is not only about lighting up the dome, but there will also be glühwein, Christmas music, Christmas trees, and Santa Claus is rumored to make an appearance.
Front Line's last show of the decade
The Groninger improv comedy Front Line will be giving it’s last show of the decade (sounds way more intense than of the year) this Saturday in LOLA. For those of you who know them, they’ll be playing their classic games, and for those who don’t - come and be amazed!
Music
As always, there are enough concerts and music shows to attend in Groningen this weekend. Pop into MASMAS on Friday night to see Takeaway Spacewolf or get last-minute tickets for the better known Omar Souleyman in the Oosterpoort. Check out The Wild Berrys performing live in EM2 on Saturday night if rock music is more your thing.
