Professors come in all shapes and sizes—figuratively speaking! Some are the mentors who guide us through both coursework and life decisions, while others might just be there for a chat or a good laugh. They’re a big part of what makes university life so interesting!

The Friend

You know that one professor who’ll have a chat with you when they see you around campus, recommend books to read, give career and life advice? Yes, them! They might be a fruitful connection for many of your future endeavours.

Building a close relationship with your favourite professor can result in a beautiful mentorship that can last long after you graduate!

The Blower of Minds

At university, we have good professors, and then we have the ones who take our whole worldview, spin it around, and change the way we think about the universe. They likely speak in a colourful language and probably wrote that 500-page textbook you’re studying from. Leaving after their class feels like you’re looking around you with new, strange lenses on.

Every class by them is an experience you will definitely love!

The Curious One

This professor takes a genuine interest in their students’ passions, no matter how unrelated they might be to the course material. Whether you’re into astrophotography, graphic novels, or starting your own podcast, this professor will ask questions, offer encouragement, and even reference your interests in class. They’re lifelong learners themselves, and their curiosity is infectious. You’ll often leave their class/office feeling more motivated and inspired, not just in their class but in your own pursuits. They create an environment where learning feels like a shared journey, and their genuine enthusiasm for what excites you makes them one of the most approachable professors you’ll ever meet.

The "Figure it Out" Professor

You’re handed assignments with little to no guidance, just a cryptic “You’ll figure it out” with a knowing smile. Office hours? They’re almost helpful but it’s all about that independent learning!

The Meme-Master

They like to spice up lectures with a steady stream of memes, pop-culture references and internet slang. Sometimes the jokes land, and sometimes you can tell they’re trying, but we’ve got to give them credit for keeping things interesting!!

They might go a bit overboard, but at least they’re making an effort to engage—and honestly, it’s a welcomed distraction from the usual lecture grind.

The Strict One

This professor always expects you to be on time, prepared for class and actively participate in seminars. They seem tough on the outside, but deep down you know they only want the best for you and your academic development!

The All-Knowing

The All-Knowing Professor is the walking encyclopedia of their field. They seem to have an endless reservoir of knowledge, effortlessly recalling obscure facts, theories, and historical details without missing a beat. No matter the question, they have an answer—and often a detailed backstory to go along with it. Their lectures are packed with so much information that it feels like they’re downloading entire textbooks into your brain. (Kudos to *all* the professors for mastering this talent!!!)

Needless to say, these archetypes are written all in good fun, and we appreciate each of our professors a lot! At the end of it all, professors aren’t just there to teach—but also help shape our university experience in ways we don’t always expect. Whether they’re challenging us, inspiring us, or just making it more fun to learn. <3
