22 April is Earth Day!

22 April 2021

This day is very significant considering that we are living through a climate change emergency. Tackling this emergency requires innovative solutions, interdisciplinary engagements, hard work, and a willingness and eagerness to take risks and adopt different perspectives.

This Earth Day competition is open to our honours students, staff and alumni. The Honours College, being committed to sustainability, wants to encourage you to think about the threat of climate change and its impacts on other complex problems we are currently facing, as well as suitable solutions and actions.

Therefore, we encourage you to send us your original painting, photography, poem, short prose (max. 500 words) or other creation which corresponds to the theme of ‘nature, sustainability, climate emergency, and climate change-related global inequalities’. The theme will be interpreted very broadly!

We will share your work on our Instagram and in a Nice-to-Know news item. Depending on what you wish, your work can be posted anonymously or you can be tagged. Finally, depending on the amount and quality of the entries received, we will choose a winner who will be featured on all our socials and in a news item. Additionally, the winner will get to choose a charity towards which we will make a small contribution in their name.

Submission deadline: 12 May 2021

Send your work to: honours.socialmedia@rug.nl
