Leeuwarden has, in addition to the Beurs of course, many beautiful places where you can go to study. Here are our top spots to study in Leeuwarden!

Dbieb, Public Library of Leeuwarden

The old prison of Leeuwarden was repurposed and converted into a cultural centre for the city. In January 2018, the public library moved into the building and has been there since. The building hosts a cafe/bistro, computer access, printing facilities and a terrace. It is also used by start-up organisations that rent office space. Maybe it could even be a place for you to start your own business! Dbieb is open from 8.30 to 20.30 during the week, 9:00 to 17:00 Saturday and 13:00 to 17:00 on Sundays.

Tresoar

Tresoar is the short name for the Frysk Histoarysk en Letterkundich Sintrum in Leeuwarden. It is home to all the archives, databases and archives of Fryslân and it may also end up being your second home during exam time. They have a large study hall which is open to the public and other group rooms too if you would like to book one. Unlike the university building, Tresoar is open at the weekends, from 11am until 5pm. Upon presentation of your student card you will receive a free student pass. However, a user pass is needed to request books and records.

Lazy Lemon

The Lazy Lemon is a cute little cafe in the heart of Leeuwarden. It may not be your typical study area but it can be a perfect place to catch up on some of your weekly reading. Which we know you’re always behind on! Enjoying a coffee or cake while chatting with your friends, having intellectual discussions related to what you just read for university. Who are we kidding? You’re probably gossiping about what went down the night before, but one can dream! The Lazy Lemon is open from 09:00 to 22:00 Sunday through Wednesday and 09:00 to 23:00 Thursday through Saturday.

De Fabriek

If you are looking for a more expensive and professional option then De Fabriek is the place for you! De Fabriek has free flex spaces that can be found in their snack bar. However, if you’re the easily distracted type then the free flex places may not be for you. There is an alternative available such as their silent workplace! While studying here the most noise you will hear is of your fellow student clacking on their keyboard. The silent workplaces can be rented for €15 a day. They claim to charge very friends prices, what could go wrong?!

Campus Fryslân

Finally, last but not least our beautiful building, the Beurs. There is a large range of different places that you can study in the Beurs. From the booths downstairs to the chesterfield couches by the window, it can be a real cosy place to settle in to some productive studying. The Beurs is not open at the weekend but that’s why we came up with all these other places for you to study!
