Siawosh Eskandari
The three candidates nominated by the Faculty of Medical Sciences were all exceptional in the sense that they all already had a great deal of research experience, much more than most ordinary students. Siawosh Eskandari was the most exceptional in this regard, having made a trip to Boston during his studies, where he attended the prestigious Harvard Medical School and, supplemented by an additional two-and-a-half years, completed an academic PhD in the field of transplantation immunology. During this period, he was also a guest researcher at the equally prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, USA. Siawosh has published several articles in sound scientific journals, is co-author of two patents, and has presented his work at conferences. He won a Young Investigator Award at the American Transplantation Congress. During his PhD, he was able to supervise several students and he is proud that these students are now doing very well. Siawosh has since registered for an MBA at the Quantic School of Business and Technology in Washington, USA. In addition to his studies, Siawosh has developed himself through other activities, such as writing books, and he has founded two companies. Siawosh made a very clear pitch about a difficult and challenging subject and greatly impressed the jury, also with the story of his personal development.
