Noa Noëlle Schwensfeier

Noa Schwensfeier has now almost finished her Research Master’s degree programme in Behavioural and Cognitive Neuroscience (BCN). During this programme, she has achieved excellent results and she is on her way to graduating with an honours predicate. She already obtained honours for her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She combined this Bachelor’s degree with the Honours programme. Noa has already presented her work at a number of conferences. One of her supervisors wrote the following about this work: ‘Noa convinced me that she could do the project (i.e., on a spiking-neuron model of activity-silent working memory) and I am very happy that she did. Within the project, she explored several different solutions to the information maintenance problem that we were trying to solve, with a finished model as a result. Noa’s thesis then showed her main strength: the integration of theory and modelling. Often, people either have very good technical skills or a good theoretical understanding, but Noa has both a rare and valuable combination, resulting in a thesis that can almost be directly submitted to a journal’. In addition to her studies, Noa followed the Summer School on Sustainability, she has been active in the BCN Graduate School’s Programme Committee, in which she mainly championed better teaching in statistics, and she has also been a member of the BCN Symposium Committee. Noa made a very clear and interactive pitch about the functioning of working memory and spoke very knowledgably about this subject.
