Ece Aydın
Ece Aydın is in her final year of a Bachelor’s degree programme in Liberal Arts and Science (majoring in science, with a specialization in Health and Life Sciences) at University College Groningen (UCG). She combines this with the Honours programme. She also participated in the Summer School on Global Health. Her interests mainly concern solving complex and interdisciplinary problems within the health sciences. To further develop her expertise, in the coming academic year she will start the Health System and Prevention track of the Research Master’s degree programme in Clinical and Psychosocial Epidemiology. Ece not only stands out because of her excellent study results, but is recognised especially for the many activities that she takes part in, both at University College Groningen and in the Honours College. As her faculty recommendation letter states: ‘Ece clearly shows impressive dedication, an excellent work ethic, and an incredible application in improving the UCG community’. Namely, she has been a student mentor, chaired a committee within the Honours College’s HCSA student association, is the secretary of the music committee and chair of the introduction committee within the Caerus student association of the UCG, is a student assistant for statistics course units, and acts as chair of the Faculty Council. In this latter position, she has committed herself to further improving diversity and inclusion. Ece gave a nice pitch to the jury (Professor Hanny Elzinga naturally recused herself from the assessment of the three UCG candidates) on various aspects of health and was very well able to explain complex matters clearly.
