Sakura de Vries
Sakura de Vries finished her Bachelor's degree programme in International Business with a very solid cum laude (average mark: 8.8 out of 10). As part of this Bachelor's degree programme, she spent an exchange semester at the National University of Taiwan. In addition to her regular degree programme in Taiwan (completed with an A+), she also took several MBA courses and was active in promotional affairs.
In addition to her studies, Sakura did a lot of extracurricular work. She followed the Honours programme, once again with excellent results – the average mark was 8.5 – and on top of that, she completed an extra course in developmental economics. She was also both a teaching and research assistant and she attended a Summer School in Vancouver. Those are a lot of extra activities.
Despite her busy schedule, she is a socially pleasant person who is always ready to help others when she is called upon.
In the coming year, Sakura will start the prestigious ‘double degree’ Master's degree programme organised by the University of Groningen and Fudan University (Shanghai, China). Because she now speaks Chinese quite well, the prospects of making this a success are excellent. The judges find her goal of building a bridge between China and the West very commendable.
