Presentation of the Staat van Groningen en Noord-Drenthe

On April 15, the Staat van Groningen en Noord-Drenthe will be presented at an event in de Molenberg in Delfzijl. This independent report, developed in response to Maatregel 1 of Nij Begun, the Dutch government’s reaction to the parliamentary inquiry on gas extraction, provides a comprehensive overview of the region’s social, economic, and environmental situation. The report is made by a consortium consisting of CMO STAMM, KplusV, and Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health.

We invite you to attend this important event, contribute to the discussion with your expertise, make links to local authorities, explore where research is still needed, and help shape the future of Groningen and North Drenthe. 

During the event, organised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the following questions will be addressed:

• How is Groningen and North Drenthe doing today?
• What does the future hold for Groningen and North Drenthe?
• When can we consider the Social and Economic Agendas a success?
• What changes are taking place in damage compensation?
• How can we strengthen collaboration across stakeholders?
• What do we envision for the Staat van Groningen en Noord-Drenthe in 2055, thirty years from now?

The event programme (13.00 - 18.00) will include two plenary sessions and 6 interactive theme session with experts, policymakers, citizens and more. Invited speakers are, for example:

• Architect and urban planner Dianne Maas-Flim: the perspective of livable villages and neighborhoods
• Primary education administrator Ommeriek Geert Bijleveld: the perspective of schools in the reinforcement
• Professor of Administrative Law Herman Bröring: the perspective of accountability and the right to information
• Children's Ombudsman Margrite Kalverboer: the perspective of children and young people
• Lead researcher Groningen Perspective Michel Dückers: the perspective of psychosocial impact
