Online learning platform ‘New Heroes’
Last August, the UG has purchased an array of online training courses in soft skills for all staff members, New Heroes, which is available via Corporate Academy. On the New Heroes learning platform, you can follow short training courses of two to five hours, whenever is convenient for you.
The courses have been sorted into various themes: Personal effectiveness, vitality and resilience, team development and leadership, communication, and interaction. There are, for example, modules on digital safety and privacy, presentation skills, and project skills, but also on social safety. Within every available theme, there are Dutch and English courses.
Personal development
‘As staff member, this gives you the opportunity to work on your personal development in an accessible way. You decide which course you would like to do and when’, project leader Jildou Spoelstra explains. ‘You don’t have to free up your schedule, or ask for permission, and the courses are free of charge. You can use the quiet moments to continue with your course for 15 minutes or a half hour. The modules look well-constructed. You can have a look around and ask yourself: Would I enjoy this? Do I want to know more about this topic? These courses will not replace the on-site ones, but should be seen as an addition. They can provide a good foundation to build upon.’
Logging in
Logging in at New Heroes occurs through single sign-on. At the New Heroes platform, you fill in your UG email address, which will redirect you to the regular UG login method: P number, password, and authenticator. Once you have logged in, you will be able to view the course selection.
