Founded in 1614, the University of Groningen boasts a rich academic tradition and international orientation. The university has a proud history of producing notable academics, including the first female student in the Netherlands, the first Dutch astronaut, and several Nobel Prize winners. In 2023, the UG was home to approximately 37,000 students engaged in over 45 bachelor's and 120 master's degree programs. The UG is dedicated to high-quality academic education that bridges research and teaching, investing significantly in empowering our academic educators.
