The Living Lab is a platform for joint research and for developing and sharing knowledge about public participation in decision-making. The University of Groningen is working alongside the provincial and municipal authorities, industry, interest groups and the public to improve public participation.

Equal opportunities and values approach (EVA)

Public participation in decision-making is often viewed as a way of enhancing societal support for policy. But when does public participation actually lead to more support? We think that two factors are important to achieving effective public participation, namely involving different societal groups and representing different values. We are conducting research into how to best engage different groups and to represent different values in decision-making.
