Tina Kretschmer

Prof. dr. Tina Kretschmer studeerde pedagogische wetenschappen aan de Freie Universität in Berlijn en promoveerde als ontwikkelingspsycholoog aan de Universiteit van Sussex. Momenteel is Kretschmer adjunct-hoogleraar aan de Faculteit Gedrags- en Maatschappijwetenschappen en maakt ze onderdeel uit van de vakgroep Pedagogische en Onderwijswetenschappen. Ze doet onderzoek naar hoe sociaal gedrag van jongeren wordt beïnvloed door ons DNA en de omgevingsfactoren waarin we opgroeien. Gedrag, maar ook iemands plek binnen een sociale groep, wordt beïnvloed door onze genen.

Kretschmer richt zich in haar onderzoek op de wisselwerking tussen de karaktereigenschappen die verborgen zitten in onze cellen en externe factoren die invloed uitoefenen op de manier waarop jongeren zich gedragen en welke positie ze in de groep hebben. Het vergaren van inzicht in deze domeinen helpt ons niet alleen het gedrag van adolescenten te verklaren, maar ook beter te begrijpen wat jongeren nodig hebben in hun sociale ontwikkeling.

Sinds 2018 maakt Kretschmer deel uit van de Young Academy Groningen (YAG) en in 2021 werd zij voorzitter. Hier zet ze zich onder andere in voor het vergroten van professionele ontwikkelingsmogelijkheden voor jonge academici en houdt ze zich bezig met de rol van de universiteit binnen een regionale context. Onder haar leiding publiceerde de YAG een rapport over grensoverschrijdend gedrag binnen de universiteit. Ook is ze Fellow van de Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health.
