Event in Beijing: Groningen in the eyes of Chinese alumni

On 22 May, a delegation of the University of Groningen led by Prof. Sibrand Poppema, President of the Board of the University, visited the city of Beijing. In addition to their programme, the members of the delegation also attended a simultaneous alumni event and predeparture meeting for future students of the University of Groningen. In total, 55 alumni and future students attended this event where Prof. Poppema gave a presentation about the latest developments and ambitions of the University of Groningen.

Mr. Paul Jansen, director of Human Resources of Bombardier, gave our University of Groningen alumni a lecture on career opportunities in China. Meanwhile, the students who have already been accepted by the University of Groningen for the coming academic year 2010-2011, gained valuable information about student life and other practical insights as they prepare for their future at the University of Groningen. For example, they were introduced to the Association of Chinese Students and Scholars in Groningen (ACSSG).

At the end of both events, the alumni and future students of the University of Groningen got together to enjoy dinner, to network and share experiences.
