Wanted: Enthusiastic volunteers for science festivals in Groningen!
Do you have a passion for science and want to play an active role in spreading knowledge? We have the perfect opportunity for you! During the European Researchers' Night on Friday, 27 September, and Zpannend Zernike on Saturday, 5 October, we will bridge the gap between science and the public.
European Researchers' Night
The European Researchers' Night, in the Forum of Groningen, is an annual event that takes place simultaneously in different places in Europe. It aims to bring science and research closer to the public by showing the visitors what research scientists work on and how it impacts our society.
Zpannend Zernike
Zpannend Zernike, is a science festival for children, where they can learn about science and technology in an interactive way. From exciting experiments to fascinating demonstrations, this event offers something for everyone. Zpannend Zernike takes place at several locations, but we are only looking for volunteers for the House of Connections.
For Zpannend Zernike we are especially looking for volunteers who speak and/or understand Dutch, but others are also very welcome!
Volunteer
Would you also like to contribute to these festivals? As a volunteer, you will be the cheerful face at various sections and installations. You will welcome children and adults, and establish a connection between science and the wider public. In addition, you will help with practical matters, such as setting up at the beginning of the day and cleaning up at the end. You can apply for the European Researchers' Night (27 September), or Zpannend Zernike (5 October), or both, by filling out the form below. You will receive a fee of 5 euros per hour for your efforts.
Note: If you are already employed at the UG, for example as an usher or student assistant, you are not eligible for the compensation, but you can still sign up as a volunteer.
Together we will make it an unforgettable experience! Sign up and help us make science accessible to everyone!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Marcella Oldenhuizing at m.r.oldenhuizing@rug.nl. We would love to help you out!
