First online issue of Broerstraat 5 pops off the screen
The summer edition of Broerstraat 5 was the first issue to be published online only. From now on, twice a year, the quarterly magazine for alumni and other relations of the University of Groningen will be available exclusively online. The other two editions will remain paper copies, but will also be available as PDF files.

The online version was developed by the magazine's regular designer, In Ontwerp in Assen, and has been adapted for PC, smartphone, and tablet. The new Broerstraat 5 is now online and can be found at broerstraat5-rug.nl.
Spotify list
An online Broerstraat 5 offers many new possibilities, which we will gradually explore. What’s new in this edition, for example, are the photo carousel and a clickable Spotify list with recent songs by alumni musicians such as Izaline Callister, Meindert Talma, and Karima al Fillali. The summer issue also contains links to videos, podcasts, and books.

Summer edition
The summer edition opens with an interview with Alumnus of the Year 2023 Taku Muteza. At barely 30 years old, this environmental lawyer fights for conservation and against large-scale international animal smuggling. The photos taken of her in Zimbabwe are poignant.
In addition, there are articles about research on online extremism, preventing football injuries in women, discovering young football talent, the power of commercial banks, and overly one-sided sex. Alumni talk about their books, a lunch restaurant, a solar farm, and their work on behalf of wasps or the food bank, among other things.
Farewell column
The summer issue also contains an interview with guest writer Raoul de Jong about his writing and his message to students. In the regular column Ain Wondre Stad, Geert Pruiksma recalls an anecdote from his student days, and in her column, Rector Magnificus and alumna Cisca Wijmenga bids farewell after four years.
