RUG spin-off company reduces energy consumption by up to 35%
Faris Nizamic and Tuan Anh Nguyen are PhD students at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. In 2012 they won the University of Groningen Green Mind Award with their plan to reduce energy consumption in the Bernoulliborg with the help of smart sensor networks that regulated the lighting and heat. The two researchers have now founded the company Sustainable Buildings, which helps clients to reduce energy consumption by up to 35%. The company was recently awarded the Startup Fast Track Award by the Energy Academy Europe, as well as the Pioneers Challenge Community Award 2015 in Vienna.
